Cambridgeshire offers a diverse setting for dog adoption, ranging from historic city living to wide-open fenland and rural communities. Rescue dogs in the county are often matched with adopters based on energy levels and daily routines, particularly where walking space and working hours vary. Many dogs listed in Cambridgeshire may come from foster homes, allowing rescues to better understand how they cope in real-life environments. Whether you’re based in Cambridge or a surrounding village, adopting locally helps support responsible rehoming across the county.

BreedNeapolitan Mastiff

Clover is a 4 year old Cane Corso who has been heavily bred from in the past. She is a beautiful gentle soul that just wants to have a run and then a mooch about. She definitely gets a gold medal for having the biggest tongue ever. She walks nicely on the lead once she has burnt off some steam but can be very strong if she wants to go somewhere in a hurry. She is looking for an older family with plenty of space to have a mooch and a sniff. If you could offer Clover her forever home please contact louise@willowdalefarm,co,uk with your contact number and some information about you and your family.

Cooper And Daisy, a 5 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in Cambridgeshire

Cooper And Daisy

Cambridgeshire
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedDachshund

Cooper is the more nervous of the two and he will need time and patience to get used to his new family and routines. At the moment they are not getting enough regular exercise, and their new family will need to be prepared to manage two dogs with different energy levels – Cooper loves a walk and is always up for an adventure; Daisy is more sedate and would probably prefer to snooze on the sofa, especially if the weather isn’t to her taste! They bark at strangers and larger dogs but will usually settle quickly enough. Despite being an active boy, Cooper is unsure about many things outside the home and will bark at unexpected surprises such as wheelie bins and cyclists. He can also bark and lunge at people who approach him too quickly and unexpectedly, but he has never bitten and will be manageable with patient, consistent handling. We will provide behaviourist support to help both dogs successfully adjust to their new home. Both dogs are in good health, although Daisy is overweight and her new owners will need to monitor her eating and encourage her to be more active so she can become a healthier size. In the home, they sleep downstairs in a crate together. They are house-trained and can be left on their own for up to 4 hours on occasion. Neutering both dogs is a condition of adoption (The Red Foundation will pay) and we will discuss this with potential adopters.

Dilly, a 2 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in Cambridgeshire

The Red Foundation

Dilly

Cambridgeshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedDachshund

Dilly is the ultimate homebody, offering deep loyalty and endless affection to those within his inner circle. While the outside world can feel a bit loud and overwhelming for this young lad, he truly blossoms in a calm environment. He is a dedicated lap dog who lives for evening cuddles on the sofa, proving to be the most gentle and loving companion once the curtains are drawn and the day is done. In the comfort of the home, Dilly is an absolute delight. Although he may be a little shy initially, he is remarkably friendly to visitors when given a bit of time and some positive reinforcement. He thrives on a predictable routine and a consistent atmosphere where he feels safe and understood. Because he finds the hustle and bustle of modern life stressful, he is looking for a patient owner who recognises that his big reactions to other dogs come from a place of uncertainty rather than malice. The ideal setting for Dilly is a peaceful home with a large, secure garden where he can play and explore without the pressure of meeting other animals. He finds encounters with other dogs very difficult and will bark or lunge to communicate his discomfort, so he would best suit a life of quiet, dog-free walks in secluded areas. Dilly is not looking for busy dog parks or high-street cafes; instead, he craves a simple, tranquil life where his boundaries are respected.

Dotty, a 5 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in Cambridgeshire

Dotty

Age5 years
BreedDachshund

Dotty is an IVDD survivor, but she is so much more than her diagnosis – she is a hilarious little character with an abundance of love to give to the right home. While she shows promising signs of sensation, her physical recovery has been slow; however, she doesn’t let that dampen her spirits in the slightest and would love a human companion to help her get out and see the world. Dotty is an energetic girl who occasionally finds her physical limitations frustrating. She benefits greatly from using her wheels to keep her mobile and active, though at home, she is encouraged to move around independently to maintain her strength. Life with an IVDD warrior requires someone with the time and patience to keep her in tip-top shape. This involves careful management of her skin health and hygiene, as well as expressing her bladder regularly which is straightforward to do. Ideally, Dotty needs a home where someone is around most of the day to ensure her needs are being met. She truly enjoys being a personal shadow and isn’t a fan of being left behind! We are happy to provide support – caring for a disabled dog with as much love-for-life as Dotty is incredibly rewarding and we will support anyone who is willing to learn. Dotty was raised alongside a much larger dog and can be a bit full-on during playtime as a result. She would absolutely love to be part of a pack again and find a new sibling to enjoy a good rough-and-tumble with. Overall, Dotty is a sweet, affectionate, and humorous companion. She refuses to let her difficulties stop her and wakes up every day ready to enjoy life to the fullest, even if her way of moving looks a little different. If you think you’ve got the time and commitment Dotty needs; please email rosie@theredfoundation.org.uk

I’m Kia, a working line sable girl with brains, bounce, and a brilliant nose. I thrive on sniffing out food and toys — it’s not just fun, it’s my kind of therapy. I’m learning to slow down, choose sniffing over constant toy play, and enjoy calm, thoughtful routines. I’m busy by nature, but I’m also learning that stillness can be wonderful. What I love:Sniffing games that tire my brain and bodyAffection— let me choose - once I know you I’ll come back for more if you don’t rush meToys, especially when they’re part of a calm setupWatching the world go byCar travel – I am the perfect travelling companionPredictability and routine – once I understand the routine I will flourish What I need:A home that understands my working brain and gives me calm stimulationPredictable routines and quiet walksGuardians who respect my space and let me choose connectionGentle grooming with breaks — I’ll come back when I’m readyTime and patienceQuiet walks where I can sniffChoices – if you give me true choices it helps build my confidence knowing I can walk away if I am overwhelmedNo other dogs, definitely no cats and no small furries as I have quite a high prey driveNo young children as I am very grabby with toys My ideal home: I’m looking for someone who sees my brilliance and meets it with kindness. I don’t need chaos or constant activity — I need thoughtful engagement, calm enrichment, and a relationship built on trust. I’m not bothered by other dogs, and I’m learning to watch quietly when I have space. I’m ready to thrive with someone who understands that busy doesn’t mean frantic — it means fulfilled.
